Attention POE students!
First project of the year: Analyze the amazing inventions of Leonardo Da Vinci in order to develop small scale working models.
Questions:
What are the six simple machines?
What do you know about Mechanical Advantage, Gears and ratios?
What process should you follow in order to successfully complete design?
More to come on this...
1. Lever, wheel and axel, pulley, screw, inclined plane, Wedge
ReplyDelete2. Mechanical advantage is the ratio of force in to force out and gear ratio can increase the output torque or output speed of a machine.
3. To complete a design you should use the scientific method.
- Kayleah Griffen
1. pulley, lever, inclined plane, wedge, screw and wheel and axis
ReplyDelete2. Mechanical Advantage is the ratio of the force produced by a machine to the force applied to it. Gears are toothed wheels that are rotating machines. Ratios are quantitative relation between two amounts
3. design process
-Sierra Spring
1. Inclined plane, lever, pulley, screw, wedge, and wheel and axle.
ReplyDelete2. Mechanical advantage is ratio between the force that is put in and the force that is produced. Gears can increase torque and decrease speed or decrease torque and increase speed. Ratios are the relationships between two quantities; in this case force.
3. You should follow the design process.
1. Lever, pulley, inclined plane, wedge, wheel/axle, screw
ReplyDelete2. Mechanical advantage is the ratio of input work to output work. Gears are wheels with outcroppings that are used to adjust torque and motion speed of machines. A ratio is the comparison of any two numbers.
3. Achieve optimal design knowing the constraints and objectives.
4. Do we get credit for this?
1. Pulley, lever, inclined plane, wheel and axel, screw.
ReplyDelete2. Mechanical advantage is the ratio of the work put in to the amount of force produced. Gears are toothed wheels that connect to each other. They are used to adjust direction of motion and speed of machines. A ratio is a comparison of two quantities, for example input force and output force.
3.In order to successfully complete a design you should use the design process.
-Sara Willner-Giwerc block 4AC
1. Inclined Plane, Wedge, Wheel and Axle, Screw, Pulley, and Lever.
ReplyDelete2. The mechanical advantage of a mechanism is the ration of input force to output force. Mechanical advantage is used to apply a small force for a long distance, resulting in a large force over a short distance, or visa versa. Gears are wheels with uniformly spaced teeth, with different sets of gears having different set spacings. A small gear rotating many times can turn a large gear fewer times, but with more torque. Turning a large gear forcefully can turn a small gear with many times.
3. Think of an idea -> research it -> design it -> build real or computer model -> examine flaws-> redesign (Repeat a lot then present the idea with a write up or patent app or something)

ReplyDelete1) pulley, lever, wedge, wheel and axle, inclined plane, screw
2) the ratio between the force that is applied and the force that is produced gears are wheels with teeth that help transfer circular motion. ratios are a numerical relationship between two numbers.
3) the design process
1) Lever, pulley, wheel and axel, inclined plane, wedge, and screw
ReplyDelete2) Mechanical advantage is the ratio of a working force exerted by a mechanism to an applied force. A gear is a part in machinery that has teeth that will match up with the teeth of another gear or part to recieve or transmit force or motion. A ratio is a proportional relation between two magnitudes.
3) You should use the design process to successfully complete a design.
(Michael Parrish (4BD)
DeleteBen Johns 4BD
ReplyDelete1) Pulley, lever, inclined plane, screw, wedge, wheel and axle.
2)Input force to output force ratio. Gears are round objects with teeth that rotate and interlock with the teeth of another gear to transfer the circular motion. Ratios are proportional relations between numbers or values.
3) The design Process.
1. Pulley, screw, wedge, lever, wheel and axel and inclined plane
ReplyDelete2. Mechanical advantage is the force ratio between the input and the output forces. Gears are part of machinery that have teeth that lock into other gears (or parts) causing them to move in a circular motion to power or move something. Ratios are relations between two or more values.
3. Follow the steps of the design process.
-Deirdre Dunham 4BD
Brian Dailey, 4 BD
ReplyDelete1) The six simple machines refer to the pulley, screw, wedge, lever, wheel and axel and inclined plane
2) Mechanical advantage is a ratio of force in terms of input and output forces. Gears are a requisite aspect of many machines, as they interlock with each other, utilizing teethlike edges, to ultimately create energy or movement. A ratio implies a direct comparison between two or more values
3) The design process should be followed religiously.
