Technological interests relating to my teaching career. This blog is designed to highlight my interests and findings that could be potentially used in lesson plans of various Math, Science, and especially Technology Teachers. It will be designed, but not limited to, a high school level curriculum.
I really enjoyed this project, it was really fun to make a mechanical drum. It was a lot of work to get there, but when it worked, it was the best feeling in the world. However, if I could change anything in the project, I would have liked to come up with a better mallet rebound system. Also, it might have worked together if the gear at the bottom had interlocked better. However, given the time and materials we had, I think we did a really great job! -Deirdre
I enjoyed this project because we had to work through the whole design process until we reached a finished product. If I were to do this project over again, I would make sure that each individual piece was drawn in detail before we started building anything. Building each piece would take less time and planning if all the details and measurements were definite before the building began. Isabelle
The drum looks awesome with its red paint job! I really like assembling the drum, it came out looking even cooler than I'd originally imagined, and a lot bigger too. One thing I would change about this project however was that we did not figure out all the elements of our design before starting to build it, and this caused some complications. The whole mallet design and mallet hitting system hadnt been created by the time we finished building the frame, and if we had done that I feel like could have avoided some problems later in the project.
I think the final product looks awesome! It was fun to assemble the whole thing and make sure it worked. One thing i would change would be that we didnt have a set plan before we started building. That really messed us up in some parts and we had to think on the spot of what we wanted to accomplish. If we had those details set in stone then we couldve accomplished this project in a much more effiecient manor. -Pamela Merriman 4BD
