Technological interests relating to my teaching career. This blog is designed to highlight my interests and findings that could be potentially used in lesson plans of various Math, Science, and especially Technology Teachers. It will be designed, but not limited to, a high school level curriculum.
1. The thing I liked most about this project was doing the woodwork. 2. What we still need to do to finish up is put the pegs in the cylinders and test it and experiment with different spacings of the pegs. -Brent 4A/C
1. The thing that I liked most about this project was the theme of using Leonardo DaVinci's designs and building them ourselves. Going through the whole process from start to finish was a good experience. 2. To finish this project I agree with Brent that we need to finish the adjusting the pegs. I also think we will have to fix the drumsticks so that they snap back and don't just work for one rotation. Kayleah
1. The thing I enjoyed most about this project is the use of the laser cutter. It was really cool to be able to make such precise parts. 2. I agree with Brent and Kayleah that we still need to put the pegs in the cylinders and experiment with the spacing/rotation of the drumsticks. We also need to re-enforce the connection between the drum and the other base. -Sara 4A/C
I loved using the lasercutter, and enjoyed being able to model something on the computer, then actually build it in real life. Freshman year we never tested or analyzed our designs, but this year, we had to design something we could actually build. By building, we found ways to improve our design, for example, using a solid block of wood with holes drilled in it as opposed to thin pieces if wood tentatively glued together, which were not so obvious on the computer. The most important thing we have left to do is mount the piece that holds the rotating cylinders on. This needs to be precise so the gears work properly, but should not take long. Also, the project could use some more duct tape.
I thought that the DaVinci theme was really cool and interesting, I also enjoyed using the lasercutter. Our group has worked really hard on this project but we still need to, again, adjust the peg lengths and figure out how to make the drum sticks bounce back into place after hitting the drum. I really enjoyed working on this project and how it utilized many of our different skills. -Whitney
1) What I liked about the project was actually creating what we made on inventor. 2) What I would do differently is using more duct tape obviously and leaving more time for troubleshooting. -Brent

This project is really awesome and it seems like everyone in group worked on it.
